My name is John D. Haas. My grandfather Johannes Fransiscus Haas was born in Bakowa, Hungary in 1902. He emigrated to the USA with his Father Johann Haas, mother Margereta Huth Haas and his sister Katrina in 1904. I hope to visit Bakowa someday and also to meet some Paprikadeutshce in Germany.

To all our American readers: In the interest of all family members, especially those that immigrated to the United States from Bakowa (Bacova, Bakovár, Bachovár), it would be important to add data of at least one generation born overseas. This will establish a connection to you from your Banat ancestry. Most of you have information on your family from shiplists and know where your Immigrant ancestor came from. Surname/surnameindex.htm can be of immense help to find your first immigrant ancestor. If you could give me the name of your ancestor and date and location of where he/she arrived, I can then find him/her in the church registers of Bakowa. In exchange, you could provide me with the date of birth of your first American-born family members, and also the date of death and location of the immigrant. This then, would provide a connection from your European family to your American family sharing the same family tree. As English is also the common European language now, the exchange of information is becoming easier between old and new families. If you have the following information 1. Name of Immigrant Ancestor and whatever you know about him/her (family, marriage) 2. Date and name of his Ships arrival 3. Children born in the United States by date and location 4.
